EchoLink is software that allows ham radio operators to access other radios around the world from their computers or linked repeaters. With the aid of the Echolink servers, one can talk with other Hams from computer to computer, computer to radio, radio to computer, or radio to radio, with help from the internet. EchoLink can be very useful to blind and vision-impaired amateur radio operators. It is an application that makes a Voice Over the Internet connection from a computer to other computers, VHF or UHF repeaters, and simplex transceivers.
Hi, I just finished setting up echolink and not sure how to go about using it.
There was not much help that I could find on the site.
Anyway I set it up as follows and am not sure how to go about using it
or if I set it up the correct way. I do want to use my 2 meter radio and echolink
to contact different parts of the country and overseas if possible.
Here is some of the set up that I entered....I have this setup sofar but not sure how
to use my 2 meter radio with echolink.
I did download echolink on my computer (I have Vista)
.On my echo link setup Tabs I go to : Tools, Sysop, TX ctrl,
.External VOX I have checked.
.Key PTT I have on Local transmit
.On the DTMF box I have Decoder and External checked.
(There is another area where it stated to put in my com 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. but
it does not take, so I did not put any in).
There is a large table of different stations on echolink
Here is one example.
Station location Time Node
AA9US-R Marshfield Wisconsin ON 16:41 688418
Would appreciate any help in the above... Thanks, Patrick
